Niagara Falls, N.Y. — State Police said Thursday that a mother and her two young children who went over Niagara Falls on Monday night are presumed dead.
The mother intentionally jumped into the water above the falls with her children, troopers said.
The three are presumed dead, Trooper James O’Callaghan, a spokesperson for the State Police, said Thursday.
State Park Police and State Police are continuing search and recovery in the Niagara Falls area and lower river for their bodies, he said.
Chianti Means, 33, Roman Rossman, 9, and Mecca Means, a 5-month-old baby, all of Niagara Falls, crossed over a safety rail and went over Niagara Falls on Luna Island, attached to Goat Island, troopers said Wednesday.
State Police responded around 9 p.m. Monday to Goat Island, where an investigation led troopers to discover the mother had intentionally jumped into the water.
State Park Police and State Police searched for Means and her children, but could not find them, troopers said.
